IN OFFICE APPOINTMENTS:
Until QLD officially orders non-essential businesses to close I will take appointments at my office. You have the choice of whether you attend in person or via Skype or phone.
Yes the borders have closed but at this point they are allowing people who live and work in different states to cross. I’m keeping an eye on this and will post here if that changes. If you’re coming to see me I’ll notify you before your appointment.
Just in case they change their mind about being able to cross the border to go to work, I’m taking all my files home with me so I’ll know exactly where you’re up to with Medicare etc. That way we’ll be business as usual – apart from me being at home and you being at home 😉
MORE HELP FROM MEDICARE
A new item number has been issued for people who have been affected by Covid-19 (all of us basically). This allows more sessions (I’m pretty sure on top of your 10 Medicare sessions) until 22nd September. I’ll try to find out more details – the website is quite unclear.
I will try to hunt down a box of face masks today so that if you want to attend and take that precaution you can. Hopefully I can find some. Still trying – day 2.
I’m pretty sure we sit the recommended 1.5m away from each other anyway but I’ll double check that tomorrow and adjust if necessary.
Miami Business Centre has been sanitising benches, handles, toilet seats etc frequently throughout the day so there is less chance of spread that way.

As I mentioned previously, I can do Skype or phone sessions with you if you prefer. You will be given the option when I send out your reminder. You can let me know before that too if you like.

Yes I have found a way to do EMDR remotely. So if that’s what you’re wanting, we can still do it even if you don’t want to come in or we go into lockdown. All you need is a computer and the internet.

Heal. Grow. Transform.
Heal – there’s no denying our past has power over us.
What happened in our past can influence anything from:
- Our level of confidence – feeling like we’re not good enough, that we have to be perfect to be ok etc
- The type of partner we choose and the patterns we keep repeating in relationships
- Our level of anxiety or how readily we become depressed
- Our outlook on life and how readily we can adapt to things
- Our relationship with ourselves – anything from our body image and relationship to food to how forgiving and self-nurturing we can be
- Our relationship with the world – whether we feel safe, whether we can be vulnerable, whether we can trust
It’s important to understand where these things started. We need to see that we did the best we could in managing them. We also need to see that we have the choice to do things differently. In the Heal stage, EMDR (a specialist therapy that can help us change negative beliefs more quickly than talk therapy) can be incredibly helpful.
