APPOINTMENTS: I made the decision to protect both you and my family by staying home and conducting appointments via telehealth. That means phone, Skype, Doxy.me (I’ll give it a go – it complies with all privacy regulations and you don’t need an account, but I’m not sure how stable it is) or maybe Zoom. I will return to my offices as soon as possible so this will only be a temporary measure.
GROUP SESSIONS: Isolation is a terrible thing for humans for many reasons so….to keep us all connected I will run a series of group sessions – minimum 6 people, maximum 12 (Medicare’s rules) with topics varying from managing cabin fever to using positive psychology strategies to get us through these difficult times and probably some completely unrelated stuff to take our minds off these difficult times. These will be free to you if you have a mental health care plan (I will bulk bill for all of them). Otherwise $22.
DOCTORS & MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLANS (MHCP): I got a text this morning from MyHealth GP practices saying they will do bulk bill phone consults. This is great news – you can get your MHCP without having to leave home. Check with your regular GP if they will do the same. You will need a GP referral to access the special Covid-19 medicare sessions too (I say more about that below).
FEES: I understand at this time there will be a lot of you affected financially. Rather than cancel your appointments when you may need them the most, pleeeeeaaase let me know and I will reduce my fee accordingly. We all need to be there for each other at these times and this is one small way I can contribute.
MEDICARE: A new item number has been issued for people who have been affected by Covid-19 (all of us basically). This allows more sessions (I’m pretty sure on top of your 10 Medicare sessions) until the end of September. I’ll try to find out more details – the website is quite unclear.
Yes I have found a way to do EMDR remotely. So if that’s what you’re wanting, we can still do it even if you don’t want to come in or we go into lockdown. All you need is a computer and the internet.

Heal. Grow. Transform.
Heal – there’s no denying our past has power over us.
What happened in our past can influence anything from:
- Our level of confidence – feeling like we’re not good enough, that we have to be perfect to be ok etc
- The type of partner we choose and the patterns we keep repeating in relationships
- Our level of anxiety or how readily we become depressed
- Our outlook on life and how readily we can adapt to things
- Our relationship with ourselves – anything from our body image and relationship to food to how forgiving and self-nurturing we can be
- Our relationship with the world – whether we feel safe, whether we can be vulnerable, whether we can trust
It’s important to understand where these things started. We need to see that we did the best we could in managing them. We also need to see that we have the choice to do things differently. In the Heal stage, EMDR (a specialist therapy that can help us change negative beliefs more quickly than talk therapy) can be incredibly helpful.
Grow – there are so many skills we can learn to make our lives better.
- Managing our emotions – emotional intelligence; techniques to overcome anxiety or depression;
- Managing our mind – positive psychology skills to keep us happier and more positive; skills to help us focus
- Managing our relationships – breaking negative cycles; changing our reactions (or over-reactions); getting our needs met.
- Managing our communication – conflict management; negotiation skills, assertiveness
- Managing pesky little things like procrastination, time management and self-sabotage

Transform is a coaching space. This is where we look forward and where we deal with transitions (job, identity etc). We decide what steps to take to get you where you want to be. And we use all the success/motivational/positive tools we can to make sure you get there.
We can even use EMDR to build positive templates for your future or to build inner resources such as courage, an inner cheer squad, or a whole-hearted, passionate you.
